Covered Bridges

Here are the pictures from our trip as promised.  I was freaking out briefly when I couldn’t find my camera for a while, afraid I had left it at the last bridge, but as you can see, I finally found it.  Whew. But now I don’t have an excuse to spend oodles of money on that faintsy new Nikon Digital SLR I have had my eye on. Oh well!

Without further ado, photos!

A view from the side. A couple weeks later and I'm sure the trees would be ablaze with Fall colors.

Entrance to the covered bridge. Would you drive your car through here?

We did! The wood was creaking and popping the whole way through!

Looking out the side of the bridge. The inside was covered with grafitti.

Everything was beautiful and an ideal tourist attraction, but the graffiti inside the bridge led me to imagine that all the teenagers from this tiny, tiny town use the bridges as secret hang-out spaces where they go make out and smoke pot at night.  I mean, I know that’s what I would have done, right?

I don’t think I would have driven across that! Not in a car, not in a go-kart, not on a Segway. SCARY. Way cool, but scary.

It was scary! But our directions to the next bridge required us to drive through it, so we had to. We survived of course, but the sounds that thing was making! Ai yi yi.
